MCT AUDITION PROCESS
Experience is not required to play a role at MARATHON COMMUNITY THEATRE! Any experience is nice, even if it was years ago as an elf in an elementary school holiday pageant, but it is not required. Age doesn’t matter either, as long as you can look the character’s age on stage - because in our theatre age is just a matter of make-up! If trying out for a musical, you must be able to carry a tune and dance a bit.
Experienced or not, our MCT volunteers will guide you through the fun and easy audition process, which consists of auditions:

CASTING:
In order to be considered, acts should be…
- On theme. The theme for One Weekend Only 2025 is Lights, Laughter, Action! We are looking for acts that are funny or uplifting and will make people smile.
- Under five minutes long. Slight exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Appropriate for a wide audience. Some adult humor is okay, but please keep profanity to a minimum. Let’s keep it PG to a light PG-13.
- Able to be showcased at an open, private, or video audition. Acts do not need to be performance-ready at auditions, but we must see or hear a portion of your act in order to consider it for the show.
- For music performances, please prepare at least 30 seconds of your song as an audition.
- For dance performances, please prepare at least 4 8-counts as an audition.
- For skits, please prepare at least 1 minute of your skit as an audition.
- For improv performances, you must complete a live (open or private) audition up to 3 minutes long.
