  From Rita

Dear Fellow Members,
Hope you had a great holiday season.  Now on to your top New Year's resolution:

I WILL SEE CEMETERY CLUB OPENING WEEKEND!!!!

At our last membership meeting I emphasized the importance of members supporting productions. I hope everyone took this message to heart. If we aren't going to our own shows who will?  Your fellow MCT members have worked very hard on this production. The show is ready to open on Thursday night. So grab a neighbor and come to the theatre! (I'll be watching for you from the sound/light booth!)

Rehearsals for Kiss Me Kate are in full swing and Massage Therapy has been cast.  The play reading committee is busy reading shows for next year.  "Yeah" to the volunteers who have gotten the show posters around town.  Wanda is working very hard to drum up an audience. Ushers are needed for C. Club. In other words, there is something for every one of us to do to support our theatre.

One more New Year's thought: We are all volunteers. Everyone works hard and is doing their best. So let's keep the nasty thoughts and criticisms to a minimum and appreciate what each of us is donating in our time and talents to a maximum.

Rita
MCT President

Help Needed

Well, it’s that time of year again for our season to start. This is an appeal to anyone who is available to assist
with ushering, concessions, or taking tickets! If you've never assisted as an usher, concessionaire (you have
to be older than 18 to serve), or ticket taker before, we have a great time and you will come to know many others in the theater family. Please call Wanda if you can help and she will pencil you in. 743-0408 or 743-0994 or email her at GM@MarathonTheater.org with the dates you can help!

Thanks

Director Kathryn Rummery and producer Marilyn Tempest would like to thank everyone involved in the annual free holiday concert by the Marathon Community Theatre Chorus. The event was well attended and a good time was had by all.  The chorus also be performed at the Marathon Yacht Club.

The Cemetery Club  to Open

The cast of The Cemetery Club is hard at work getting ready for their January 6 opening.  The play is the story of three widows and longtime friends in their late 50’s who meet monthly for a social event - visiting their husbands' graves. Cast members are Adrienne Hutt, Laura Hutt, Marianne Benvenuti, Jackie O’Neal and Wayne Dapser.  The Cemetery Club runs for four weeks closing January 23.  For more information and tickets call Wanda at the MCT box office to get your reservations.  For detailed information on both this show and the entire MCT season, go to http://marathontheater.org/shows/season2004.htm

The show features Laura Hutt as Doris, Adrienne Hutt as Lucille, and Marianne Benvenuti as Ida.

Kiss Me Kate in Rehearsal

While The Cemetery Club is on stage, every other nick and cranny of our building is being used for the rehearsal of Kiss Me Kate.  Blocking is going on the the DiMarco Room, singing in the Producers' Room and the gallery, and dancing in the hallway.  This is a large and exciting production scheduled to open February 24.

3rd Annual 2005 Winter Exhibit: The Art Club

The member artists of the Bougainvillea House Gallery are proud to announce the opening of their 3rd Annual 2005 Winter Exhibit "The Art Club."  This group show will open on January 7  in the main gallery and Producers' Room  through January 23. The hours are Monday-Friday from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm and during the evening performances of The Cemetery Club. Exhibited paintings will be for sale with 20% of all sales going to MCT as a gesture of "artists helping the arts." The show is free to the public, and one of the Bougainvillea House artists will be there to greet you.

OWO Pictures Ready For Pickup

If you ordered pictures of One Week-End Only from Mary Beth, they are ready for distribution. Please call her at 743-9206 as early as possible to make arrangements to pick them up. Mary Beth has a great deal of time and expense invested in preparing the pictures for our group and would appreciate freeing her studio space for new photos.
