MINUTES OF THE MARATHON COMMUNITY THEATER
BOARD OF DIRECTORS – September 6th,
2006
The Special Board Meeting was called to order at 754 pm, to discuss the roof situation and the
next course of action to be taken. Present were: Fred, CJ, Ginger, Suzanne, Rita,
Claudia, Arnie, Tom, Paul, Gail, and Sylvia.
The roof is up, but leaking in some spots. The contractor is asking for
more money to finish the project, and they have been sent a letter saying that
no more money will be forthcoming until the problems are addressed.
Nothing has been done on roof for 3 or 4 weeks. Fred proposes that we
obtain the advice of a lawyer and send a letter to the effect that the
contractor has 10 days to finish project or not do so at all.
We can then use the remaining money (approximately ¾ of the total
budget) to get the roof fixed by someone else.
There was a clause in the contract in case the contractors found
something unexpected, but they recommended the product; which seems to have
caused the problems! Rita seconds Fred’s motion and it is approved.
Meeting adjourned.
