MINUTES MARATHON COMMUNITY THEATER

February 28, 2006

 

Meeting called to order by President Rita Irwin at 6:00 PM.  Present were Vice Presidents Ann Hart, Laura Hutt,  Treasurer Gail Burnett, Secretary Fred Hundhammer, Directors Suzanne Turpin, Christine Leird, Ginger Michael,  Jorg Gobel by proxy. 

 

The first order of business was a presentation by Jay Mott from Premier Roofing regarding the repair of the roof.  He discussed a contract to complete the roofing which was temporary covered by  Victor in November.  The price was $45,744.45.  He further suggested we consider a different product, a TPO fleece backed, permanent adhesive roll of plastic/rubber with a 30 year warranty which does not need to be coated ever.  The price was to be the same,  and his company would prepare the surface without additional charge.  A motion was carried to Use the TPO product for an amount not to exceed $46,000.  Fred agreed  to ask a Miami roofer/consultant for an opinion before we signed the contract.   

 

The meeting continued with the approval of the Agenda and the Minutes of the January 24, 2006 meeting.  It was determined a quorum was present. 

 

Staff Report:  Loretta presented the General Managers Report 2/28/06 and it is included as a part of these minutes.   Highlights included:  1) Gross ticket sales for Vagina Monologues were $7200. 2) We received an additional $9,279.18  from Citizens for Wilma damage.  3) “Volunteer School  was supported  by 16 attendees and was well received. 4) Sonny Booker asked for permission to schedule “The Fantastics” on June 1,2,3.  

 

A discussion followed with respect to MCT  co-sponsoring productions.  A motion was passed to Allow Co-Sponsored Productions on a Case by Case basis.  With regard to Sonny Booker’s request, a motion was to passed to Co-Sponsor “The Fantastics” on June1-3 if they will be  responsible for providing the music and if our Backstage Staff is available and willing to do the production on those dates.

 

Committee Reports: 

Production:  Rita and Ann reported Chicago was “almost” ready to open.  They were both very optimistic. 

Play Reading:  Chairman Laura Hutt  said the Play Reading Committee  recommendations would be ready by the March  BOD Meeting.   

Finance:  Treasurer Gail Burnett reported VM  gross was $7200 which was all profit.   Social Security earned $21,579. after expenses.  The  complete Treasurer’s Report is attached and included with these minutes. 

 

Old Business:  None

 

New Business:

1) A motion was carried to Hold the MCT General Membership meeting on Wed, April 5, 2006 at 7PM.

2) The Date for the Pampered Palm award was set for Saturday, June 10, 2006
