MARATHON COMMUNITY THEATRE PRESENTS A SUMMER READING
Marathon, FL (July 9, 2008) ' Queen of Bingo, Marathon Community Theatre's (MCT) annual summer reading, opens July 25 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays, July 25 & 26 and August 1 & 2 at 8:00 p.m. Queen of Bingo is written by Jeanne Michels and Phyllis Murphy and tells a story about two colorful sisters, a little over 50, who want to add some excitement to their lives. They manage to make that happen at the local church gymnasium playing Bingo!
Sis and Babe are not only sisters, but best friends. One loves to play, one loves to win. One is fit and trim; one is in a perpetual battle of the bulge. One is content being a widow, one is looking for love. They're competitive, they're crazy and they're very funny!
Marathon Community Theatre is known for featuring all-local participants both on-stage and back-stage and for discovering people from our community who have wonderful talent. Father Mac is played by Bob Rowand, Sis is played by Alicia Merel, Annie Miners portrays Babe, Eric Rolfe is the Bingo caller and Jackie O'Neil is the musician. The production is directed by the current students of MCT's Director's Class taught by Rita Irwin. Mike and Cheri Edwards, Eric Rolfe and Suzanne Terpos are very excited to exercise the knowledge and skills they have learned in the class and to complete the first requirement toward becoming directors for future productions at Marathon Community Theatre.
Queen of Bingo will be performed in the theatre Gallery with unassigned seating. Tickets are on sale now for $10. Call the MCT box office at 305-743-0994 or stop by 5101 Overseas Highway, Marathon, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays on show dates.
