MARATHON COMMUNITY THEATRE PREPARES FOR SEASON OPENING
Marathon, FL (October 24, 2007) — California Suite, a Neil Simon comedy, will open Marathon Community Theatre’s (MCT) 2007-2008 season. The play is directed by Jorg Gobel-Staib and produced by Hermann A. Staib and will open November 15 and run through December 8.

California Suite made its Broadway debut at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on June 30, 1976. It is about five couples, all set in one hotel suite in Beverly Hills. It’s a bittersweet comedy. The first couple hail from New York City and are engaged in a custody battle. The second are from Philadelphia; the husband has had a relationship with another woman and is trying to prevent his wife from seeing the girl in the bed. The third are from London; she is nominated for an Academy Award, he is gay. The fourth and fifth are two couples from Chicago, who fight constantly while they are on vacation together.

The all-local cast includes Suzanne Terpos, Bob McCormick, Bill Meyer, Jackie O’Neil, Marianne Benvenuti, Brenda Duff, Pat Robenolt, Martin Potratz and Michael Edwards.

Tickets are on sale now for $18 or purchase a four-show or three-show season package. Everyone holding a ticket for opening night, November 15, is invited to join in the Opening Night Party immediately following the show. Box office is open 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays on performance dates. Each performance begins promptly at 8:00 p.m. and the Sunday matinee on Thanksgiving weekend begins at 3:00 p.m.
